Members,

This month is a fifth Sunday month. On August 29th we will do our ‘Fifth Sunday Trail-Walk’. Cartridge or muzzle loader, remember shooting a muzzle loader gets you two extra shots. Twenty-five rounds for cartridge and twenty-seven for muzzle stuffers. We never shoot it the same, we mix up the gongs and shooting stations to keep it fun for either cartridge or muzzle loader. Come up August 29 and shoot with us ‘cause this is a great match, IT’S FUN!! Because everything is so dry we’ll be shooting the short stations this month.

September 12th Match is one of the great matches of the year, bring 35 rounds for the match and a few for practice. The Tom Trevor .45-70 Trap Door Springfield Match, paper at 100 and 200 yards and either the 400 or 500 yard gong. Rifle & Carbine 15 rounds each plus 5 rounds at a long range gong. Those 15 rounds will be 5-standing, 5-sitting, and 5-off hand for both rifle and carbine, the long range gong is your choice of rifle or carbine. If you don’t have a rifle or carbine, come up anyway, you can share mine. This is the one match that you don’t want to miss. September 12th starting at 9 am is Tom Trevor’s .45-70 Trap Door Springfield Match.

The results of this month silhouette match: (I need to use a lot of words this month so I’ll give the scores of most silhouette shooters and pad anything else I can.)
CARTRIDGE CLASS: Sam Baseman 13 hits, John Clevenger 11 hits, Tom Andress 10 hits, Tom Trevor 7 hits, Eli Covin 6 hits, Mike McCormick 5 hits, the only Muzzle Loaders Derek Dotson 8 hits and Skip Stokes 6 hits.

It was a really good day, the light was bright, a cool breeze, and the temperature never got above 75 degrees. There were row pins this month no one was shooting well. It was a good day with good friends and it happens again in October.

Have you wondered why the benches are starting to look so nice?  Simple, every Wednesday Tom, Sam and I have been slowly painting the loading and shooting benches. It has to be done guys, if not; we will look like all the other ranges. You all are welcome to grab a brush any Sunday or Wednesday before or after we start shooting. Help us to help you enjoy the nicest range in the canyon.

The Bakersfield Muzzle Loaders news letter is posted on our bulletin board. It has the dates of several matches that you might be interested. It is a long drive up the hill but sometime it’s worth it.
