BURBANK MUZZLELOADERS NEWSLETTER JUNE 2008
BML Members, Time again for the Spring Work Party. On June 22nd, we need to remove some dead weeds and leaves before the Fire Marshal writes us up. Tom T has dragged the range and Sam and I have been removing grass but it is a lot of work and we need a work party to finish it up. Get there early before the heat, JUNE 22nd before 7:00 am and we can start shooting around 9:30.
June is a Fifth Sunday month and our Fifth Sunday Match will be on June 29th. You can shoot what you like and remember that everything is dry so we will shoot the short course. Twenty five rounds for cartridge and twenty seven for muzzle loaders. It takes about a hour or an hour and a half to shoot the course so you should have a hat and sun screen. Cash pay back and fun for all June 29th any gun (with black powder and outside hammers) 'Trail-Walk' at BML Range.
The July 13th Club Match will be the John Clevenger "ANY GUN BENCH MATCH". That is 25 rounds from any gun from the bench with black powder. Targets will run from 25 to 100 yards, but be prepared for anything you can shoot from the bench. This is a good because all scores are always good when shot from the bench. Be there. Sunday July 13th starting 9:00 am sharp or there abouts.
The June Club Match was Silhouettes. Results of the match was: CARTRIDGE CLASS- Lee Bowman with 11 hits Muzzleloaders didn't want their scores listed
It was a very good day for shooting, 88 degrees with 18% humidity and a cool wind, You would never know that it got up to 98 degrees by lunch time. There was only two row pins earned this month, Sam Baseman and Tom Trevor got five chickens each. First place cartridge was a three way tie with 11 hits each, Tom T., Skip Stokes, and Lee bowman. How do we know who really won??? The hardest animal to hit in silhouettes is the turkeys, so we let them be our tie-breaker. Tom Trevor hit one turkey, Skip hit two, and Lee hit four. We had to give it to Lee, who makes up these rules anyway!!! Good day for shooting, REALLY!!!!! You should have been there, the club lives only by the support of it's members.
July 6th will be the annual BML cookout. Nothing special this year, we just get together, shoot, and chow down. Tom T. will let you know what to bring, we don't want a lot of stuff left-over as in the past. Since it will be a light snack this year, the families will be staying at home. You can invite your family if you wish but most are not. See Tom T. for your responsibility for the July 6th BML cookout.
This Year we have lost two members of our club. Bob Hellman and John Bennett has passed away. John was a member since the '50s and Bob designed our Turkey Shoot fliers that we have been using for 20 years. Both were good people and will be missed.
