BURBANK MUZZLELOADERS Burbank ML Members,NEWSLETTER JULY 2008 June had five weeks. That meant that June 29th BML had the 5th Sunday TRAIL-WALK. Twenty-five rounds shooting gongs on the side of the hills. First LEE BOWMAN with 22 hits, second TOM TREVOR with 17 hits, third SKIP S with 17 hits, fourth TOM ANDRESS with 16 hits, I have forgotten scores for the other shooters. SORRY!!! Good day, hot with a cool breeze that made very a good shooting day. Next fifth Sunday Trail-Walk will be August 31st. It could be hot then so be ready with the hats and sun block. August club match will happen on August 10th about 9:00 am. It is the bi-Monthly silhouette match. That's where you try and knock down those pesky little metal thingies. Also it is where you could earn up to $100.00 and always earn points toward 'Shooter-Of-The-Year'. It's a good shoot to make and the price is right-$10 match fee, what a bargain. Be at the Silhouette Match on August 10th around 9:00 am sharp. The July 13th Match was the John Clevenger Any-Gun-Bench Shoot. The targets were from 100 yd. to 25 yds., in reverse to the norm. We shot our best shots and score our own. Total aggregate score possible 350 with special White-Dot for extra points that could raise the total to a 290 possible. The scores were: 1st Place with 247 20x Lee Bowman (rifle) 2nd Place with 242 9x Sam Baseman (rifle) 3rd Place with 238 10x Tom Trevor (rifle) 4th Place with 235 9x Tom Andress (rifle) 5th Place with 226 11x John Clevenger (rifle) 6th Place with 212 6x Skip Stokes (rifle) It was a cool day with very good prizes. John had two targets at 25, 50, and a 100 yard target which muzzleloaders had an extra shot. John did a good Match with prizes going down to eight places. He also had a drawing with three chances to win a pound of powder. All-in-all a very good day, and it was cool also. The BML 4th of July cookout happened July 6th. Even tho we cut back on the food this year, there was still leftovers. Hot dogs, hamburger, steak with all the trimmings with desert and drinks. What could go better with a day of shooting!!! A big BML thanks to all you guys that brought up the food and drinks. Again next year! Have you noticed that our range is looking great? WOW, HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN, IT'S LIKE MAGIC!!! No not magic, last month we had a work party, Lee Bowman, Tom T, Sam Baseman, Skip, and Mike McCormick showed up and worked from 7 'til 9:30 when the 105 degree (in the shade) heat caused us to stop still unfinished. Then on the following Wednesday Tom T, Sam B, and Skip finished everything up. It would have gone quicker if we had more help to finish everything on the first day, but even without you it really looks nice, send in the Fire Inspectors!!!! X-Mas shoot is in four months, if you are tired of shooting the same old tired targets, get some great targets to me before Thanksgiving. The funnier the target the more fun you'll have shooting the match. You have plenty of time to look around or make up some great targets on your computer. Give me what you come up with.
