                                                                                                                November 2008

BML Members & Friends,

November is a fifth Sunday month and that means Trail-walk!!! November 30th will be the trail-walk Sunday. There are twenty-five gongs on the hill side just waiting to be hit. With the help of the early rains, we just might be able to shoot it from the longer stations. It is a fun match that pays cash. November 30th starting at 9:00am.  In case of rain we will not shoot the Trail-Walk until after X-Mas.

It is election time again; it’s time to elect new officers. We do this every year; I know you want the club to run as smooth and efficient as possible. Be one of the highly paid members of the club by being an OFFICER!!! We have had the same guys running the place since 1980. If you wish to make changes on how our club is run, step up and be an officer- PLEASE!  Your officers now and for the last 18 years are: President-Tom Trevor, Vice-President-Tom Andress, Treasurer-John Clevenger, Secretary-Skip Stokes, and Silhouette Board Member at Large-Sam Baseman.

Don’t forget the work party Sunday November 23rd starting as early as possible. We always start our work party around 7:00 am in order to be able to start shooting around 9:00 or 9:30. WORK PARTY SUNDAY THE 23rd EARLY.

December 14th will be our annual X-Mas shoot. I am so flooded with new X-Mas targets from you guys that I decided to use the same old tired targets that we have shot for the past 15 years. Thanks for the non-help. For more information on our “X-Mas Turkey Shoot” look at the flier enclosed.

The November Turkey Match was Sue and Bernie Rowe’s “SWEET TURKEY SHOOT”. Six targets, all were Thanksgiving theme, but we should question the flies over the turkey droppings as part of Thanksgiving. Well, let’s say very close to the Turkey theme. The targets were tough, really tough, which kept the scores really low. Prizes were cakes and cookies taken down to seven places, I’ll do the same:

     1st – John Clevenger with 144                   2nd – Tom Trevor with 131
     3rd – Lee Bowman with 123                      4th – Eli Colvin with 121
     5th – Tom Andress with 105                      6th – Kent Burton with 86
     7th – Skip Stokes with 84

Sue and Bernie do a good match with cakes and cookies for prizes, and with a warm sunny day, how good is that!! Good fun match guys, again next year?

The rock rule is kinda working. Every time you go out to post a target, pick up 3 or 4 rocks off the range and bring them back. Tom T picks up a dozen or more and tosses then off into the wash on the side. I have bad shoulders so I must bring the rocks I pick up to the shooting line where they will be picked up later. Soon there will be a bucket at the shooting line to toss the pick ups in. If you remember pick up a few rocks every time you go out, it’ll soon look much better.

Do your best to make the X-Mas Turkey Shoot on December 14th. See you there.
